Blog Post

If I am going to be completely honest, if the rest of the year is going to be based on that game im rather worried. I'm worried because im not good at memorizing things and having to recite them to others. I can't really think of any questions at this point and time, but if I think of some I will certainly email you.

Do I write often? Um, I don't really have inspiration to write so I guess the answer to that is no. The last time I wrote something for pleasure I think I was like 12 years old maybe a little bit older but I don't remember. The answer to "does it make you nervous to share writing in front of the class?" is a absouloutley it does, I have anxiety and it just freaks me out to talk to other people. You'll probably give me the same " Just keep doing it and you'll get used to it." Well. I wont. I have been doing been presentations since elementary school and no matter how long i've done it, doesn't make me any more comfortable. I just get increasingly more nervous each time I have a presentation. Some concerns I have about sharing my writing is that i am not very good at writing at all and even when I can do decent I end up putting to much of myself into it and I don't want people listening to me say that kind of things about me.

Final

E-Comm Reflection
In Graphic design, I learned how to work with and better understand adobe photoshop that way I could improve the skills that I already have which is really satisfying. I would have to say that the tutorials our class got is what really helped me the most, but the projects we did just show cased how well we knew the skills which was really helpful because it helped know whether or not you need to keep practicing that skill or if you could work on learning a new one and incorporating it with your other skills that you have learned.

Although it was because of all the tutorials our class got that helped me learn the new skills but it was really the projects we had that would show if I had actually learned the skill instead of just following the tutorial to get those few points that would help my end grade. I also learned from google because sometimes the tutorials wouldn't help and or you just wanted to see if there was a new or faster to learn the skills you have.

I feel that learning how to work with and better understand photoshop is important because in the future it may be one of the programs that I fall back on when I go into my career of video game graphic design. Even though it won't be my primary program, it will likely be the one that I use to do all my rough drafts on before I go into the main program so I have an idea of what I will have to work on in the main program.

My greatest strengths were on the projects that I did do, I did them to the best of my ability finding a way to make them better. Even though I didn't do all of my projects I did enough of them to know over %50 of the skills that our class learned. It's not like if i want to learn more skills I can't look them up on youtube or maybe email someone that knows a lot about the skill so they can tell me how to so do it. Some of my weaknesses were that I didn't do all of the projects because for some odd reason I didn't feel that it wouldn't benefit me and I just didn't feel like doing them at all.

With all that i've learned I will probably keep practicing and building onto the skills I already have and use them in my future career of being a video game developer. Other than that I really don't know what else I will do with it all maybe just use it for future personal projects or something. I guess we will find out.

Is there anything that I would change? I know one thing I would change is the way Ms. Lofquist taught us. Although she did show us a few tutorials here and there she would always tell us to google everything and find a way to do it. And then when we asked for help she would just tell us to google it. Not to mention that she definitely had favorites in the class *cough* *cough* Ben *cough* *cough* Bens cool though, he was basically a teacher to everyone and he was really nice so thats a plus.

In conclusion this year was okay the projects were fun it just the students and the teacher that made it very unenjoyable which kind of killed my vibe when I was in class because I'd always be pissed off or annoyed.

Web Design Final

Way back in the old days:

         When I walked back into this classroom for the second time I was pretty freaked out because I didn’t see any of my friends in the room. So until then I just sat at my assigned seat waiting for the bell to ring signaling that 3rd hour had started. Luckily, at the last second I saw a couple of my friends Natalie and Kaylee walk in and I let out a sigh of relief knowing that I wouldn’t be alone. Then just at the last second my other two friends Marissa and Evan walked in which made me even more relaxed than I already was. I remember vividly the first day of school because we walked in, sat at our assigned seats and waited for the instructions to begin. Once the bell rang and Mr. Olson talked for a few minutes and then sent us on our way since everybody knew him, he really didn’t need to do an introduction.
            Our first task was to make a simple little website representing what we had done that summer and a few of our interests. I was kind of expecting that we would have done it on dreamweaver but to my surprise we were doing it all on textmate. Which is pretty cool because since I never had used it before it gave me the chance to learn something new. Learning how to use textmate was fun because you got to design everything from scratch with no limitations… the only limitation was your imagination. Even though I already knew how to code, it was still a learning experience because I was so used to having premade templates, but no… I was doing this all by myself. Every little thing.
            I learned this by looking up how to make a website from scratch and you know just doing what the tutorials had said to do until I felt I could do it by myself. Ofcourse once I was doing it all by myself I still had to look up a bunch of different codes… by the way shout out to WebSchools, pretty sure id be all screwed up and doing everything wrong if I didn’t look on there. Anyways that’s besides the point I guess I really learned all this through trial and error.
            I feel that all I learned was really important because it will help me in the future when Im in the career of a video game developer. I know that doesn’t seem very likely that a video game wouldn’t need coding but its very crucial because you can really do anything now a days without coding.
            I would say that my greatest strengths are that when I did my projects that I would do with so much detail and perfection because I wanted to get the best grade possible on it and not to mention that im a perfectionist so that played a part on why I was always so late with the projects I did. I would say that one of my weaknesses is that I always got distracted in class and I wouldn’t get any projects done because my mind was always somewhere else or doing something else.
            With all that I have learned this year I am probably going to apply it to my own personal projects and like I mentioned earlier my career as a video game developer. Other than that I’ve also always had a dream to make my own web design company since I was at least 8 years old so I will probably try and make that happen.
            Is there anything that I would change? No, I honestly wouldn’t change anything that happened this year besides maybe the fact of how many of the projects I did do because that is really what ended up hurting my grade in the long run which I know its my fault but its still disappointing.

            In conclusion I would just like to thank Mr. Olson for teaching me all the things I did learn this year, and getting on to me about turning my projects in. I’m looking forward to seeing you next year, and thanks for taking the time to read this.

What Graphic Design means to me

What does Graphic Design mean?

Graphic Design is well known as communication design, and we really deal with it 24/7. Most people think this only done on computer but you need to realise that they are wrong and graphic design in done everywhere, all day, everyday.

What does Graphic Design mean to me? Well actually graphic design means many different things to me, but if I sat here and listed them all you would get bored because the list would really long. Anyways graphic design lets me explain who I am through my art and my designs, and that means a lot to me because in the real world with the real people I can't be who I want to be without everyone judging every single move I make. With graphic design it's like I can be free and not have to hold back on who I am there are no limitations, other than being myself and thats it.

Pencil Project

Part 1: The Basic Skills;
For part one I just followed the instructions to the best of my ability even though it was kind of tricky at first. Even though this pencil isn't the best I still had fun making it, because it taught me how to use new tools to make very cool things, such as my pencil. The hardest part for me was creating the cup because every time I would try to make it, it would never work for me.

Part 2: Creating my Own Pencil & cup;
For this part I took my knowledge from creating the first pencil and applied into a more cool looking pencil with a somewhat matching cup for the pencil to go in. I changed the pencil a bit and even added a piece of paper with some "writing" on it. That was actually really fun for me to do cause I was practicing new skills that I have not learned yet.

Part 3: Making my 3rd pencil;
For my 3rd pencil I attempted to make a tree pencil, which was actually really fun to make, even though it wasn't the best quality at all it was still fun to try and get it to look like a tree. I think this was the hardest part for me for the main reason being I couldn't get anything to look like and this was the closet I got, if I had a longer period of time I could have come up with something a lot better than a "tree pencil".

Part 4: Two things that relate to each other;
I put a speaker and a "boom box" because they relate to each other and I really enjoy music. More than people realise because I have grown up on music and it explains me. I don't know anything else to write about this other than I made this because they relate to each other and I really love music.

3 Sites, Than and Now

 In 2005 Youtube opened and created there very first layout. They had the same logo but a different color scheme and a way different layout, because when it first opened you couldn't even see recommended videos or what your subscriptions were. But now the layout is way different there is a lot more things you can do, you can see your history, subscriptions, and a lot more.

 As you can see the coding is very different, the one on top is from this year and the one on bottom is the one from 2005. The one from this year is a lot more complex and has a lot more components because it has a lot more to it than it did back down. And the the older coding is so simple because there was hardly anything on the website when it first opened.
This is the microsoft windows website... they both have a lot to them, but as you can see the new one is more appealing to the eye than the old one. Really the old one had only what you needed and maybe a little bit more, and they probably didn't have as much information as they do now.

I would say that this coding is more complex because they both had a lot of links in them so ofcourse it is going to have a lot of link coding

They is the internet archive wayback machine, as you can see the new website is more appealing and there is more to do, because obviously they have upgraded overtime. And as to were the old one is a little less complex but still has some components to it.
The top coding is for the new website and the bottom is for the old website. Can you guess why? I bet you guessed right it is because the new website probably has more links to more websites than they ever did before. The new coding probably has more layout codes to because the layout is completly different then it was before.

Final E9 Blog Post

For this project I helped with a lot of stuff. My main things that I worked on were the website and the graphic design, I did help with everything else but not as much. I did have a lot of fun with this project and I felt I worked with my group very well and we got a long pretty good, besides when we would come to a disagreement.

My process for this was pretty good once I got the idea for everything that we were doing. Something different I would do next time is make sure my group and I have a better idea and have an actual plan of where the project is going, instead of just coming up with an idea and then just winging it. Something I would do the same is I would work with this group again, cause I felt like we did work very well together once we all saw eye to eye on something.
